Assists in maintaining systems (land-based nursery), gear, and equipment used in conducting applied research projects concerning molluscan shellfish aquaculture. Assists in conducting field trials (planting, sampling, harvesting) on UF’s experimental shellfish aquaculture lease. Applies his 30 years of extensive experience in commercial shrimp culture in Australia and Central and South America, including design and operation of hatcheries, genetic selection, pond and production systems, to clam farming in Florida.
Assists in providing field demonstrations for shellfish farmers highlighting applied research results and conducting tours of the shellfish aquaculture research and education facility.
