Alternative oyster culture (AOC) has been identified as an important adaptation strategy by the traditional oyster industry in Louisiana. Learn about a grant program to expand AOC operations, assist in establishing hatcheries, nurseries and growout facilities, and designating areas as AOC Management Units (parks) that contain multiple farms in one location.
Brian Callam, Ph.D is director of the Grand Isle Oyster Research Lab where he oversees the Lab’s breeding and research programs. He has extensive experience working with triploid and tetraploid oysters.
