Assessment of Off-Bottom Oyster Culture Techniques on Biofouling in the Gulf of Mexico

Overview

Biofouling controls on floating oyster cages were assessed in four Gulf states (LA, MS, AL, FL) by employing two strategies – aerial drying (‘flipping’) of cages and biocide-free, antifouling coating on bags. Effects on oyster growth, survival, condition, and biofouling were documented.
