During August through October, workshops were held with shellfish growers around the state to provide information on recent and ongoing applied projects being conducted by the UF IFAS Shellfish Aquaculture Research and Extension Program. At meetings in Cedar Key, Port Charlotte, and Sebastian, growers met with Dr. Huiping Yang, a new UF faculty member with an appointment in molluscan shellfish aquaculture and restoration, and learned about her research experiences. The intent of these meetings was to obtain growers’ input and direction in addressing research needs for the shellfish aquaculture industry.
